Off I go on another adventure...
This is so like me, isn't it? God has given me an extraordinary opportunity to spend the upcoming year serving and teaching English to high school students in the Czech Republic. This is definitely a big step for me, as I am beginning to explore God's calling to overseas service. I hope to use this web log as a sort of information page on the ministry and my preparation, so please share it with your friends!
What exactly will I be doing?
I'll be put into a team with whom I'll spend the following ten months in service, prayer, encouragement, accountability, and friendship. Our role as teachers allow us to form relationships with students desparetly in need of God's grace and truth, where we can appropriately share the Good News through our lives, service, and words. In pursuing and encouraging spiritual growth, we will also be partnering with local churches.
Support
A mission like this one, obviously, requires a substantial amount of support ($8,000, actually). I would love for you to be involved in this ministry in any way you can! (it's also a great way for us to stay in touch after graduation!). If you are interested in making a donation, make checks out to Educational Services International and mail them to 444 East Huntington Drive, Suite 200; Arcadia, CA 91006. In the "FOR or MEMO" section of your check, please put the number 206038. Do not write my name anywhere on the check. This way, the organization will send you a reciept to use for a charitable tax deduction. Please consider making monthly donations as well...you can spread out a donation over a period of time if you wish.
Prayer!
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (1Thess. 5:11). First and foremost, your prayers and encouragement are much needed! I'll be honest, I do get a little nervous sometimes, so any words of support and prayer would be appreciated. Specific prayer requests right now are for a renewed confidence in Christ working through me (I've never taught a day in my life), raising financial support, team formations and city placement, and that God would give my family and me a peace about my safety and well-being.
Thank you so much to everyone for their love and support!
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:19)
